Our

Mission

To equip and empower women and girls who have endured life challenges by providing holistic education grounded in dignity and self-determination.

Our

Story

Women’s Dignity School was founded in 1998 in Mali, West Africa, by Mariam Sidibe to support women with few or no opportunities. She created a safe space for those facing some of life’s toughest challenges, including orphans, women living with disabilities or HIV, and those from extreme poverty.

Today, that same mission continues in Washington State. Women's Dignity School now serves immigrant families and their allies across Thurston, Mason, and Lewis counties, carrying forward the work that began in Mali: providing education, dignity, and hope so that every woman has the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Lead With Dignity — Our Community Leadership Program

Lead With Dignity is our community leadership program, offered free to community members three times a year. It helps immigrant women and families across Thurston, Mason, and Lewis counties build the leadership, voice, and collective power to shape decisions that affect their lives and to lead in their new home. Our roots run deeper. Women's Dignity School began in Mali with hands-on training in tailoring, textile dyeing, beauty, beading & jewelry, henna & natural dyes, soapmaking, etc., skills that gave women a path to economic independence. That same belief drives everything we do here in Washington: when a woman has skills, dignity, and support, she can build a brighter future for herself and her family.
